VR & 3D printing Overlapped – Royal Academy

The world’s first 3D printed virtual reality art is due to go on display at the Royal Academy of Arts in January.

HTC and their Vive headset have partnered with the historic art school to create Virtually Real, an exhibition that will include artwork created using the VR headset – devices visitors to the Academy will be able to put on and experience themselves first hand.

There will also be aspects of the art 3D printed and on show in physical form for visitors to see as well – blurring the line between VR and the real world.

The artwork has been created by Royal Academy students past and present, using Google’s Tilt Brush app – the same app visitors will use to view the final work when the exhibition opens to Friends of the RA on January 11 and to the wider public on January 12.
